Patrick O'Grady

BACKGROUND: O'Grady has been a journalist since 1977, working as a reporter, editor and/or cartoonist at a series of daily newspapers before signing on as VeloNews' editorial cartoonist in 1989.

He turned freelancer in 1991, contributing work to Outside, Men's Health and other publications. He has been a regular contributor to the trade journal Bicycle Retailer and Industry News since 1992. In 1999, VeloPress published a collection of his VeloNews cartoons, titled "The Season Starts When?"

O'Grady has raced on road and off without distinction, barring 1999, when he got lucky a couple times on the Colorado cyclocross circuit. He continues to draw cartoons for VeloNews and is the online editor at large for VeloNews.com, a virtual soapbox upon which he occasionally acts the fool. He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Shannon, and their cats, Turkish and Mia.
