With the GC placings firmed up at Hautacam, and the Pau rest day having given riders time to recover, the attacks are sure to come thick and fast on this final Pyrenean stage. It’s not a particularly difficult one. The first 90km from Lannemezan (population 6,000) are on flat and rolling roads past the foot of the mountains until the route hits the very narrow Cat. 1 Sommet de Portel (15km at 7 percent), and this is followed by almost 30km of downhill along the scenic Route Verte (the “Green Road”) to Foix (population 9,700) before taking a 29km loop, which features two short climbs, and then heading into a wide finish straight on the other side of Foix.
